Jane’s Walk – Northeast Swale Spring Hike

May 3 from 2:00-3:30 p.m.

The Northeast swale is a one-of-a-kind haven of Saskatchewan biodiversity and a precious refuge from the hustle of city life. As city development threatens this native ecosystem, taking the time to enjoy and appreciate all it offers is more important than ever. On May 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm, join us for a scenic spring walk through Saskatoon’s best remaining intact prairie. We will learn about the species that live there, search for wildflowers, and discuss the threats facing the Swale. Note: This walk will take place on uneven surfaces, wear sturdy footwear. Be prepared for ticks as well! No dogs are permitted in the environmentally sensitive Swale.

Meet at the entrance to the Northeast Swale on Lowe Road. To get there, drive north on Central Avenue to Fedoruk Drive. Turn right and continue east to Lowe Road. Turn left and drive north for a short distance, to the barricade.

Meet here.

Resources

We offer both printed and PDF versions of these materials. Printed pamphlets are available in the box at the west entrance of the Northeast Swale during the warmer months. You can also pick them up for free at events we attend.

A big thank you to the Saskatoon Unitarians and Garage Band for their financial support, which makes it possible for us to produce printed materials.
